Well the benefit of that site is, you're allowed to take those images and use them. Thats what they're there for.

From what I know, it's because Ezio is more of like a renegade assassin. The games are in 2 different time (obviously) and I guess in Altair's time, the laws of the assassin's were a bit different, and more thoroughly followed. I read up on it (and watched a video from the game producer...)

Apparently when you gain the "master assassin" rank, which Altair is, you undergo an initiation and part of the initiation is to lose the ring finger because of the hidden blade.
